Eye injuries
My horse's eye is swollen, yikes!
Eye injuries are common in horses and are an emergency
- Eyelid lacerations
- Corneal scratches/ulcers
- Blunt trauma
- Puncture of the eye
What do I do?
- Catch your horse to get a closer look
- If the eye is bleeding you can apply gentle pressure with a clean cloth
- Call your veterinarian immediately
- If not properly treated eye injuries can become worse in a hurry
