Cuts

Common sites for a horse to get cut -

  • Heel bulb
  • Eyelid
  • Chest
  • Legs

What to do -

  • Get your horse caught and haltered
  • Apply pressure to wound with a clean cloth
  • Pressure is the best way to stop bleeding
  • Assess the depth of the wound and extent of bleeding
  • Have someone keep pressure on the wound while your veterinarian is called
  • Your veterinarian will help you decide the proper course of action from here, based on the extent of the wound
