Colic

Common signs of Colic

  • Laying down and rolling

  • Kicking at his/her belly

  • Biting at his/her side

  • Pawing the ground

What should I do?

  • Remove any feed from your horse and observe closely
  • If your horse is laying down and rolling get him/her up and walk him/her to prevent rolling

  • Call your veterinarian as soon as possible
  • If you have to keep walking your horse to prevent rolling, have someone else call your veterinarian

  • Based on the specific signs of your horse, your veterinarian can give you further direction
